| Printmaking - Japanese woodblock print |
| |
A comprehensive hand printed woodblock workshop conducted by Ralph Kiggell
"I was drawn to woodblock printings for several reasons.
"The most important reason is that woodblock printing uses natural materials and is sensitive to the environment. The second is that I was interested in the Japanese aesthetic, which is superbly represent in Japanese woodblock prints of the last 400 years.
"Thirdly, as any artist who has printed knows, there is something compelling about carving a design on one material and transferring it to another." |

We will learn both theory and practice including focal point, color wheel, light and shadow, as well as different brushstrokes. We take advantage of photographs to give us inspiration while practising how to eliminate unnecessary details.
The course aims to build confidence in how to handle this medium so we can venture into developing our own unique style.
