Eight artists; Vichoke Mukdamanee, Monticha Khantachawana, Cholada Ananaweenusorn, Palut Marod, Somporn Teamprasit, Suwannee Sarakana and Kongsak Gulglangdon show ordinary scenes in India with artistic touch. Vibrant colours of Sari, mystical architecture, and simple lifestyle of Southern Indian suggest strong message for viewer's interpretation.

This exhibition gives viewers a variety of styles; ranging from folk arts, abstract, to realism.

Symphony of Thoughts
November 2 - 30

A major discovery for La Lanta Fine Art when we were introduced to Lim Khim Katy, a Cambodian - Vietnamese 26 year old artist who lives in Ho Chi Minh City. Her art is about people; passersby and acquaintances. Hardship in Vietnamese livelihood plays a subdue role in her paintings. Her brush strokes are strong and determined. Her color choice is feminine and soothing.

Katy also paints landscapes and housing scene of Vietnamese middle class in a peaceful context. Her art embraces the cultural influences, landscapes and people of her life experiences.

La Lanta Fine Art is honoured to hold her first exhibition outside of Vietnam. "Symphony of Thoughts" shows a collection of 22 of her best paintings.

Mark your calendar to meet Katy at the artist reception on Thursday November 2, 2006 at 7.00 p.m. at La Lanta Fine Art. Click here to find our location.

Arts of the Month

Parts of striking ornamented Thai "Khon" mask bombed to bits. Face of vibrant Chinese puppets crumbles to pieces. Limbs of beautiful elegant Thai traditional puppets fall apart.

This is what you literally see when looking at Viroj Rattanajamcharoen's artworks.

A humble 30 year old artist has guts to paint what he paints.

He dares with sacred articles held highly by school of traditional performing arts. These masks and puppets are derived from Thai historic literatures of Ramayana and Sam Kok (Three Contingents).

His works tell story a lot deeper than their face value. His paintings show a metaphor of deteriorating indigenous value infested by consumerism and materialism. On the upside, however, the section where the mask remains intact, the beauty and elegance remain glorified.

Viroj superbly masters oil painting technique to demonstrate the staggering effect of culture disintegration with relentless attention to details.

The artworks come in 2 series; Ramayana Literature and Sam Kok Literature.
