TRAIL OF TIME
by Ip Vaan, Sim Chan, and Lin Yun Ling
Today until Sep. 30
at La Lanta Fine Art
|
|
The co-exhibition between La Lanta Fine Art and A Gallery Hong Kong featuring 3 Chinese artists comes to its last week. The show will end on Sep. 30.
|
| |
In this exhibition, the most senior artist of the three is Lin Yun Ling (b. 1971). His work portrays the consequence of China's constant flux which leads to the radical change of the country's domestic landscape and the lost of its heritage.
A face of a Chinese orphan is depicted in each of his painting to symbolize the product of today's China, each of whom has only a faint engagement to their rich heritage.
The intensity and the powerful gaze is built up by limited color palette and layers of mega sized brush strokes .
Lin Yun Ling's work was also featured in the ShComtemporary 08 in Shanghai two weeks ago. Well received both critically and internationally, there is every reason to believe Lin Yun Ling's talent will continue to unveil itself.

YOU ARE HERE
by antarctic explorer and artist - Stephen Eastaugh
Opening reception Thursday, October 2 at 7.00 pm. Please mark your calendar to meet Stephen Eastaugh and to view the documentary film of his artistic quest in Antarctica. |
| |
Nomadic artist Stephen Eastaugh merges abstract art, landscape, and stitches in the upcoming “You are Here” exhibition.
The artist explores the idea of place, location, home, land and geography. Constantly moving from place to place in the last 25 years, Eastaugh is inspired by tourist maps found all over the world with little red dots that give us a clue of “where we are”.
|
| |
He shares the idea that the route, not the location where one stands, structures the travel experience. The exhibition poses the question of mobility versus stability.
The work in this exhibition covers geography from Australia to Franze Josef Land near the North Pole and Antarctica to Bangkok. |
| |
“I have occasionally woken up at some longitude and latitude and it has taken me some minutes to discover or recall what city or even what country I was in. Could this be some form of wanderlust sickness or terminal jetlag?,” said Eastaugh.
|
| |
Australian born, Stephen Eastaugh is a professional nomad, Antarctic explorer and artist. He has been to more than 70 countries in 26 years. He exhibited widely in Australia , Asia , and Europe . His work is collected by museums and prominent institutions across Australia .
|
| |
The opening reception will be presided over by Ms. Bronte Moules, Deputy Head of Mission , Australian Embassy on Thursday, October 2nd at 7.00 pm at La Lanta Fine Art.
