La Lanta Fine Art continues its “YOUNG PROGRAM” with an introduction of 5 young artists from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
As the name suggests, “Saigon Contemporary” focuses on the point of view of these budding artists who live in the southern Vietnamese city. The exhibition offers a glimpse of varied self expressions by this group of artists in their late 20's and 30's.
This generation has witnessed dramatic changes in the Vietnamese social and physical landscapes. As the country opens up to international investment, and more foreign influences, the influx of information and new experiences has inevitably impacted their creative processes.
In ways quite different from the senior artists who came before them, this generation interweaves traditional art making skills with external inspiration that is a product of Vietnam in the 21st century.
