Known for his abstract-expressionist and conceptual artwork, all of Canale’s work are preceded by a long period of documentary research. The artist, therefore, creates an emotional bond between him and the topic.
In ACID RAIN series, media broadcast and personal experiences pertaining to environmental problems trigger Canale’s inner alarm to communicate. In this body of work, Canale depicts the paradox of “beauty in deterioration.”
The environmental issues were explored and communicated through the beauty of visual elements of colors, lines, shapes, textures, and scratches. Canale dilutes the tonal intensity to create echelon of transparent layers. The harmony of colors lights the undertone of sadness whilst reflecting the artist’s aesthetic intuition.
